How much Hockey Netting do I need?
You'll need to measure the goal opening- height and width, and, the depth of the top shelf from the crossbar back to the center support bar, and down the center support bar to the base.
Your goal netting width is determined by adding the depth of your top shelf to the length of the center support bar. The netting itself will install 'sideways', meaning the 'width' will go vertically when installed.
The Length of netting needed is usually the height width of your goal, plus one foot. (6 4 1 for a 6x4 goal). Goal depth's vary, this is accommodated by using the correct 'width' netting.
'Length' is referring to the distance from post to post, as the netting installs sideways.
For NHL style 'trimmed fit', regulation 6'x4' goals will require 11 feet of netting. Some goals have a satisfactory fit with less netting.
Because the netting will conform to your specific goal, you will get more length out of netting at the expense of height, and vice-versa.
Special circumstances may included the 'Art Ross' style hockey goals (shaped like a 'B' when viewed overhead as opposed to a 'D'), rectangular top shelf corners and two center support bars.
